U know, there r many ways according to likings. I like to listen good music mostly. Watching good movies, collectibles, old photo albums (of near n dear ones ofcourse), travelling, photography, singing, dancing, decorating even blogging n so on can give u good change. Well it depends on one's passion. I used to like draw pics in childhood... so sometime even rangoli used to give me pleasure. So, it may depend on capacity and hobbies too.

My dear mom liked to stich something always... it was her creativity, so she liked to remain engaged, even after retirement, applying new ideas even for newly born babies of friends/relatives or decorative ornaments of flowers (and sankrant white halwa).

Ok let me stop blogging and do some other tp [ just kidding] .. need to do household core. You may continue with tp of ur liking in spare time [ if u r lucky to get it :) ].

Mind-
----

Four words are enough to make me n u think endlessly. Don't know what held me back from blogging. This month my son found new job of his choice in Pune, so might be bit busy observing his shifting, resuming process though I wasn't physically involved. Sometimes, occupied mind doesn't allow one to do activities of leisure time. Isn'it it?

So, my new addiction is our own Google's Orkut. Writing scraps, reading scraps,getting/sending fun msg.s,watching nice pics, photos, meeting known/unknown ppl.spread all over world, it is all fun and relaxing thing.

I hope ppl.don't misuse freedom of speech on Orkut as we (MSians) came across on Mouthshut.com on few occasions. Ppl.should enjoy this site properly and get benefits out of it. Sounds bit talking like phylosopher? However, facts are sometimes bitter.

Ok, so this Orkut, kid of Google is taking my time these days and I am enjoying it till this moment.

Happy Sankrant (e-tilgul ghya ani god bola) !!!
-------------------------------------------
On this occasion, I wish you to read my favourite old Hindi love songs.

It is definitely difficult to define Love in simple sentence. Love can not bound by the term relationship, it can be for family, friends, pets even. Love is natural affection created by Great "God" to make the world going ! When somebody loves him/her, he/she remembers him/her when he/she is feeling low and also when he/she is feeling top of the world as well !! Love surely needs 100% involvement, 100% trust, 100% willingness to sacrifice if need be, with 0% ego or selfishness. Hope you agree with me.

So, here are my fav.twenty Hindi Love songs from list of thousands-

1) Ye sama, sama hai ye pyarka, kisi ke Intjarka,
Dil na churale kahin mera, mausam bahar ka......

Picturised on cute, emotional Nanda in Jab Jab Phul Khile. Nanda was seen so involved in this song that she could not think of someone (Shashi) watching her dance in dreamy mood. She is best ever seen in this slow dance.

2) Aaiye meherban, baithiye jane jan,
houkse lijiye ji, Ishq ki Imtihan............

Divine beauty, without which review will be incomplete.None other than, Madhubala who in her unique style does slow dance. This dance is yet another proof that slow dances can be found more attractive than fast dances. Just can’t miss it.

3) Piya tose naina lage re, naina lage re,
Jane kya ho ab aage re, ab aage re,
Piya tose naina lage re, naina lage re,
Piya, O, ho piya,
OO, OO piya, O, ho piya............

Simple and sweet Wahidaji at her best in ’’Guide’’. Stage and her make up/dresses are changed in every stanza which makes us understand passing time progressively. Great involvement.

4) Tere mere sapne, ab ek rang hai,
jaha bhi le jayega re, hum sang hai,
O,O, tere mere sapne.................

Once again my fav.Guide. Too lovely song full of emotions. Rafi sab the Great !! Vahidaji hats off !!.

5) Ehsan tera hoga mujhpar, dil chahta hai jo,
kahene do, mujhe tumse mohobbat ho gayi hai mujhe,
palkon ki chaw mein rahene do..........

I like Rafi sab singing this song than in Lataji voice. Dear Shammiji has performed it very effectively to feel as if he is singing.

6) Bahot Shukriya ssssss, badi meherbani sssss,
meri jindagi mein hujur aap aaye..........

(sssssss stands for aalap extending last alphabet)

Joy Mukherjee addressing this song to Sadhana in ’’Ek musafir Ek hasina’’. Sadhanaji saying,’’Muze dar hai muzmein gurur aa na jaye, lagu zumne main, surur aa na jaye.........’’ I like these lines more. Excellent use of musical instruments and nice lyrics too.

7) Pyar huwa, Ikrar huwa hai,
Pyar se phir kyu darta hai dil,
kahata hain dil, rasta mushkil,
malum nahi hai kahan manjil..........

Best screen pair ever seen according to me, need I mention ? Raj Kapoor (ji) and Nargis (ji) excellent always in all love scenes/songs. You know, black Umbrella made this song picturisation more effective.

8) Lagi chutena, hai, lagi chutena,
ab to sanam ssssss, chahe jaye jiyasssssss, teri kasam...........

I remember this song due to it’s music esp. harmonium used beautifully. Pl. tell me on whom it is picturised, I haven’t watched this song since long.

9) Tu mera chand, main teri chandni,
O sssssssss, Osssssssss, OO, OO, O, Nahi dilka lagana koi dillagi, koi dillagi......

It was on Radio Binaca Geet mala famous song which Amin Sayaniji used to announce. Suraiyyaji’s voice made this song more attractive. Film was ’’Dillagi’’.

10) Tu kahan ye bata sssssss , Is nashili ratmein sss,
mane na mera dil diwana,
hai, mane na mera dil diwana............

Dev sab finding Nutan his lover in pahadi Ilaka (rocky area) of Darjeeling in ’’Tere Ghar ke Samne’’. Echo sound used brilliantly.

11) Jara samne to aao chaliye,
chup chup chalnemein kya raj hai,
tu chup na sakega parmatma,
meri atma ki ye aawaj hai.............

Actually, this song is addressed to Him i.e. God but these lines suit to your loved one perfectly. Perhaps telepathy implied in it, I mean Aatma ki Aawaj, appealed me most.

12) Jo wada kiya woh, nibhana padega,
Roke jamana chahe,
Roke khudai, tumko aana padega............

From Taj Mahal, picturised on Beena Roy and Pradeep Kumar. Proved Beena Roy as successful actress.

13) Pav chu lene do, phulonko Inayat hogi,
Inayat hogi,
Humko dar hai, ke ye tohin-e-mohobbat hogi,
Mohobbat hogi..........

Decently picturised once again from Taj Mahal on Beena Roy and Pradeep Kumar. I liked Beenaji walking just through the flowers spread over floor (err), trying not to put feet on them. Song is sweet no doubt.

14)Jindagi bhar nahi bhulegi, woh barsat ki rat,
Ek anjan hasina se mulakat ki rat.............

Barsat aur Pyar nice equation seen many times in Hindi films. Rafiji made it divine. Madhubala too good in this song in rains that too in black and white. Isn’t it great?

15) Ye chandsa roshan chehra,
julfonka rang sunhara,
ye zil si neeli aankhen,
koi raj hai in mein gahera,
Taarif karun kya uski, jisne tumhe banaya...........

Most romantic song with fabulous rhythm, I ever heard which is picturised on my fav.Shammiji with Sharmilaji. I think she was introduced in "Kashmir Ki Kali" film first time. What an introduction !

16) Deewana huwa badal,
Sawan ki ghata chayi, ye dekhke dil zuma sss,
Li pyar ne Angdayee sss, Diwana huwa badal...........

Rafi sab with Aashaji making best combination in "Kashmir ki Kali".

17) Abhi na jao chodkar,
yeh Dil abhi bhara nahi.......

"Bura na mano bat ka, ye pyar hai geela nahi" Kya bat hai !! Jana bhi hai, rukna bhi hai, Shikwa bhi hai, pyar bhi hai. Jaise pani mein Tarang uthe ho, aaise emotions bikhare hain.

18) Do sitaronka jameenpar hai milan aaj ki rat,
Muskurata hai ummidon ka chaman aaj ki rat ssssss...

Film Kohinoor and Rafiji making song divine.

19)Sasonki tal par, dhadkan ki tal ka sssss,
Dil ki pukar ka, Rang bhare pyar ka sssss,
geet gaya pathharone........

Love can make stones sing a song. Picturisation of this song is really must see. Rajshree and Jitendra in his earlier days.

20) Sakhi ri mora man uljhe, tan dole,
Man uljhe, tan dole sssss,
Ab chain pade tab hi, jab unse milan howe,
sakhi ri mora...........

Vaijayantimalaji shown as a expert dancer in Amrapali, singing this song remembering her Sainik who in fact was actually King of different kingdom (Sunil Dutt). I like Vaijantimalaji’s all dances and this song has no dance performance, it is just her own mood.

Among new songs, I can immediately recall few like Ek ladki ko dekha to aaisa laga (1942- A Love story), Bahon ke darmiyan
(khamoshi), Ye hasin wadiya, ye khula aasman (Roja).

======================================

By this time, I am sure, you have hummed most of the above songs while reading. If yes, I am not at all surprised.
======================================

Interior decoration in kitchen-
------------------------------
Always I wished good decoration in kitchen. After long wait, atlast we decided to renovate it and visited two/three kitchen trolley/cabinet makers, fixed one of them with moderate cost on checking quality. Technical words in quotation always confuse me e.g. MDF,partical board (which comes in seven varieties I came to know afterwards),then 2D or 3D, drip unit. MDF is factory processed sheet which is more nice looking than usual sunmica pasted on wooden sheets/shutters. 2D means 2 drawer system and 3D means 3 Drawer sys.while good quality partical board is generally used for cabinets.

These decorators don't tell you clearly how many glasses they will fix in show case or how many horizonal partitions will be inside wall cabinets. So, as per our convenience, we have to take it in writing not to allow them to forget conveniently and then increasing costs at every stage while work is going on or after completing work. I studied quotation first to check whether my requirements are mentioned atleast with 80% clarity as otherwise I would have asked them renewed quotation to get clear idea what is going to be done at what exact cost.

Since old oota had some odd small pillars and extra cement layers, to accommodate 3D system under main oota and L shape side it was necessary to remove original structure and civil work was needed. I watched every bit of it though cant remember every technical name used inside granite which is fixed after putting kadappahs. It created more space on removing those fat pillars and on putting just one vertical kadappah to separate sink area from usable trolleys area. Then tiling work is must to keep walls clean above gas stove.

I decided where I want 3Ds and 2 Ds. However, I must have decided two/three upper drawers with firm base, instead just putting hard plastic sheet to put small items used in kitchen.

Trolleys come in fixed variety i.e. one for steel thalis/dishes,one for cup/soccers with glasses and small bowls, one for serving spoons, one for big bowls. Rest we can decide according to specifications of grain containers/wheat floor like items to be kept in kitchen. Then trolleys come in three types, powder coated, plastic coated and steel. Steel is obviously costly. Plastic coated are cost/quality wise ok, so we selected it. Then steel handles are good for maintenance than brass ones. Near cylendar area they give one wheel trolley to remove while changing gas cylendar. Then they give drip unit above sink area to let water drip from cups and soccers on washing them.

Actually, I changed shutters colour from maroon/silver combi.which I had thought to select on visiting showroom. Maroon was bad for west and silver was bad for East, according to Fengshui chart in the book recently I gone through, so chose other nice combi.i.e. light brown wooden and European white(yellowish white)colours. Btw, maroon is good for South direction and white/silver is good for West direction but my kitchen was having work at three directions- viz. east, south and west.

Nice showcase in kitchen adds to beauty of kitchen definitely so I decided two cabinets total 5 ft.in length with four glass doors and two horizontal glasses making three compartments inside. Kitchen is mostly right area for keeping God, so one more glass cabinet with two small glasses were decided to have a nice look and having comfortable puja with flowers, agarbatti. Afterall, He is who offers us all comforts of life. Isn't it??

Then comes colouring work. I selected colours suitable for cabinet/shutters and also for tiles making deco in kitchen more beautiful. Before I forget, I must tell here, three small C shape glasses in the corner to keep decorative items are adding further to beauty apart from sliding glass window above gas stove with exhaust fan.

I wrote this blog for inspiring those who wish to renovate their kitchen and just to keep diary of what I supervised closely.

It's alarming-
Bank ATM's Converted to Steal IDs of Bank Customers

A team of organized criminals are installing equipment on legitimate bank ATM's in at least 2 regions to steal both the ATM card number and the PIN. The team sits nearby in a car receiving the information transmitted wirelessly over weekends and evenings from equipment they install on the front of the ATM (see photos). If you see an attachment like this, do not use the ATM and report it immediately to the bank using the phone on the front of the ATM.

The equipment used to capture your ATM card number and PIN is cleverly disguised to look like normal ATM equipment. A "skimmer" is mounted to the front of the normal ATM card slot that reads the ATM card number and transmits it to the criminals sitting in a nearby car.

At the same time, a wireless camera is disguised to look like a leaflet holder and is mounted in a position to view ATM PIN entries.

The thieves copy the cards and use the PIN numbers to withdraw thousands from many accounts in a very short time directly from the bank ATM.
(I tried to upload 4 pics but could not. APJ Abdul Kalaam's speech in Hyderabad.

"I have three visions for India.

In 3000 years of our history, people from all over the world have come and invaded us, captured our lands, conquered our minds. >From Alexander onwards. The Greeks, the Turks, the Moguls, the Portuguese, the British, the French, the Dutch, all of them came and looted us, took over what was ours. Yet we have not done this to any other nation. We have not conquered anyone.

We have not grabbed their land, their culture, their history and tried to enforce our way of life on them. Why? Because we respect the freedom of others. That is why my first vision is that of FREEDOM. I believe that India got its first vision of this in 1857, when we started the war of independence. It is this freedom that we must protect and nurture and build on. If we are not free, no one will respect us.

My second vision for India is DEVELOPMENT. For fifty years we have been a developing nation. It is time we see ourselves as a developed nation.

We are among top 5 nations of the world in terms of GDP We have 10 percent growth rate in most areas. Our poverty levels are falling. Our achievements are being globally recognized today. Yet we lack the self-confidence to see ourselves as a developed
nation, self- reliant and self-assured. Isn't this incorrect?

I have a THIRD vision.

India must stand up to the world. Because I believe that, unless India stands up to the world, no one will respect us. Only strength respects strength. We must be strong not only as a military power but also as an economic power. Both must go hand-in-hand. My good fortune was to have worked with three great minds. Dr. Vikram Sarabhai of the Dept. of space, Professor Satish Dhawan, who succeeded him and Dr.Brahm Prakash, father of nuclear material. I was lucky to have worked with all three of them closely and consider this the great opportunity of my life.

I see four milestones in my career:

Twenty years I spent in ISRO. I was given the opportunity to be the project director for India's first satellite launch vehicle, SLV3. The one that launched Rohini. These years played a very important role in my life of Scientist.

After my ISRO years, I joined DRDO and got a chance to be the part of India 's guided missile program. It was my second bliss when Agni met its mission requirements in 1994.

The Dept. of Atomic Energy and DRDO had this tremendous partnership in the recent nuclear tests, on May 11 and 13. This was the third bliss. The joy of participating with my team in these nuclear tests and proving to the world that India can make it, that we are no longer a developing nation but one of them. It made me feel very proud as an Indian. The fact that we have now developed for Agni a re-entry structure, for which we have developed this new material. A Very light material called carbon-carbon.

One day an orthopedic surgeon from Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences visited my laboratory. He lifted the material and found it so light that he took me to his hospital and showed me his patients. There were these little girls and boys with heavy metallic calipers weighing over three Kg. each, dragging their feet around.

He said to me: Please remove the pain of my patients.

In three weeks, we made these Floor reaction Orthosis 300-gram calipers and took them to the orthopedic center. The children didn't believe their eyes. >>From dragging around a three kg. load on their legs, they could now move around!

Their parents had tears in their eyes. That was my fourth bliss!

Why is the media here so negative? Why are we in India so embarrassed to recognize our own strengths, our achievements? We are such a great nation. We have so many amazing success stories but we refuse to acknowledge them.

Why?

We are the first in milk production.
We are number one in Remote sensing satellites.
We are the second largest producer of wheat.
We are the second largest producer of rice.
Look at Dr. Sudarshan, he has transferred the tribal village into a self-sustaining, self driving unit. There are millions of such achievements but our media is only obsessed in the bad news and failures and disasters.

I was in Tel Aviv once and I was reading the Israeli newspaper. It was the day after a lot of attacks and bombardments and deaths had taken place. The Hamas had struck. But the front page of the newspaper had the picture of a Jewish gentleman who in five years had transformed his desert land into an orchid and a granary. It was this inspiring picture that everyone woke up to. The gory details of killings, bombardments, deaths, were inside in the newspaper, buried among other news.

In India we only read about death, sickness, terrorism, crime. Why are we so NEGATIVE?

Another question : Why are we, as a nation so obsessed with foreign things?

We want foreign TVs, we want foreign shirts. We want foreign technology. Why this obsession with everything imported. Do we not realize that self-respect comes with self-reliance ?

I was in Hyderabad giving this lecture, when a 14 year old girl asked me for my autograph. I asked her what her goal in life is.

She replied: I want to live in a developed India.

For her, you and I will have to build this developed India. You must proclaim. India is not an under-developed nation; it is a highly developed nation.

Do you have 10 minutes? Allow me to come back with a vengeance.

Got 10 minutes for your country? If yes, then read; otherwise, choice is yours.

YOU say that our government is inefficient.
YOU say that our laws are too old.
YOU say that the municipality does not pick up the garbage.
YOU say that the phones don' t work, the railways are a joke, the airline is the worst in the world, mails never reach their destination.
YOU say that our country has been fed to the dogs and is the absolute pits.
YOU say, say and say.

What do YOU do about it?
Take a person on his way to Singapore..... Give him a name - YOURS. Give him a face - YOURS. YOU walk out of the airport and you are at your International best. In Singapore you don't throw cigarette butts on the roads or eat in the stores. YOU are as proud of their Underground links as they are. You pay $5 (approx. Rs.60) to drive through Orchard Road (equivalent of Mahim Causeway or Pedder Road) between 5 PM and 8 PM. YOU comeback to the parking lot to punch your parking ticket if you have over stayed in a restaurant or a shopping mall irrespective of your status identity. In Singapore you don't say anything, DO YOU? YOU wouldn't dare to eat in public during Ramadan, in Dubai. YOU would not dare to go out without your head covered in Jeddah. YOU would not dare to buy an employee of the telephone exchange in London at 10 pounds ( Rs.650) a month to, "see to it that my STD and ISD calls are billed to someone else." YOU would not dare to speed beyond 55 mph (88 km/h) in Washington and then tell the traffic cop, "Jaanta hai main kaun hoon (Do you know who I am?). I am so and so's son. Take your two bucks and get lost."

YOU wouldn't chuck an empty coconut shell anywhere other than the garbage pail on the beaches in Australia and New Zealand.

Why don't YOU spit Paan on the streets of Tokyo?
Why don't YOU use examination jockeys or buy fake certificates in Boston???
We are still talking of the same YOU.
YOU who can respect and conform to a foreign system in other countries but cannot in your own.
You who will throw papers and cigarettes on the road the moment you touch Indian ground. If you can be an involved and appreciative citizen in an alien country, why cannot you be the same here in India?

Once in an interview, the famous Ex-municipal commis sioner of Bombay, Mr.Tinaikar, had a point to make. "Rich people's dogs are walked on the streets to leave their affluent droppings all over the place," he said. "And then the same people turn around to criticize and blame the authorities for inefficiency and dirty pavements. What do they expect the officers to do? Go down with a broom every time their dog feels the pressure in his bowels?

In America every dog owner has to clean up after his pet has done the job. Same in Japan. Will the Indian citizen do that here?" He's right.

We go to the polls to choose a government and after that forfeit all responsibility. We sit back wanting to be pampered and expect the government to do everything for us whilst our contribution is totally negative. We expect the government to clean up but we are not going to stop chucking garbage all over the place nor are we going to stop to pick a up a stray piece of paper and throw it in the bin. We expect the railways to provide clean bathrooms but we are not going to learn the proper use of bathrooms.

We want Indian Airlines and Air India to provide the best of food and toiletries but we are not going to stop pilfering at the least opportunity. This applies even to the staff who is known not to pass on the service to the public. When it comes to burning social issues like those related to women, dowry, girl child and others, we make loud drawing room protestations and continue to do the reverse at home. Our excuse? "It's the whole system which has to change, how will it matter if I alone forego my sons' rights to a dowry." So who's going to change the system?

What does a system consist of? Very conveniently for us it consists of our neighbors, other households, other cities, other communities and the government. But definitely not me and YOU. When it comes to us actually making a positive contribution to the system we lock ourselves along with our families into a safe cocoon and look into the distance at countries far away and wait for a Mr. Clean to come along & work miracles for us with a majestic sweep of his hand or we leave the country and run away.

Like lazy cowards hounded by our fears we run to America to bask in their glory and praise their system. When New York becomes insecure we run to England. When England experiences unemployment, we take the next flight out to the Gulf. When the Gulf is war struck, we demand to be rescued and brought home by the Indian government. Everybody is out to abuse and rape the country. Nobody thinks of feeding the system. Our conscience is mortgaged to money.

Dear Indians, The article is highly thought inductive, calls for a great deal of introspection and pricks one's conscience too....I am echoing J.F.Kennedy's words to his fellow Americans to relate to Indians.....

"ASK WHAT WE CAN DO FOR INDIA AND DO WHAT HAS TO BE DONE TO MAKE INDIA WHAT AMERICA AND OTHER WESTERN COUNTRIES ARE TODAY"

Let’s do what India needs from us.

Thank you, Dr. Abdul Kalaam
(PRESIDENT OF INDIA)
==============================================

Forward this message to each Indian.
==============================================

Sant Dnyaneshwar's Pasaydan is all time favourite of marathi people. due to it's meaning. Children used to call him "Chacha Nehru". Now, that there is one more personality in India, present President of India APJ Abdul Kalam who thinks, cares for children. He meets them answers to their thousands of queries on variety of subjects including development of nation, education in India, peaceful life, politics and so on. This year I found rediff dot com arranged livechat thru internet and he answered some questions- read this link

http://livechat.rediff.com/chat/preschatconv.html

I am impressed, inspired. India is Nation having cultural, religious and language diversity. It's geographical atmosphere too has diversity. Really it's good guesture to satisfy doubtful minds of children by first person of Nation. PRESIDENT HAS SUGGESTED US TO REPLY HIS ONE QUESITON THRU HIS SITE- www.presidentofindia.gov.in
Question is- "What will I be remembered for ?" In any country? Yeah, it is said there is. I don't think, rather I have only heard of it as it exists in many countries esp. democratic countries. Ys.,mine is big democratic country. May be thats why I am able to express some of my thoughts till this moment. May be that's why I am able to write this blog here with freedom. Hope this is allowed to me to the fullest extent, as I doubt sometime about writing here freely. Writing goodie goodie things is quite easy job but writing facts and figures, which might be bitter or hard to digest, is always thought in other way.

Sombody says something in the corner of the world and the person or group of persons are getting hurted or causing loss at the other corner of the world. Earth is round and thru internet it has become easier to communicate anywhere fast. Moreover, thoughts which were confined only to paper work, may be books, files, now are preserved somwhere in the space i.e. some servers, gigantic data-serving small chips even. As such, any thought of any corner of world is reached with speed of light to other corner of world, which is by now known fact. If there is freedom of speech, which is obviously outcome of thoughts, until it does not hurt anybody's religious beliefs or doesn't harm anybody physically/mentally, should be allowed to express freely. One can not stop other's thoughts.

It is for mankind to think in right direction of course. Again, what is right and wrong, depends on many factors like where the person is born and brought up, what kind of society he/she lives in i.e. enviornment, what are traditions followed, what is his/her method of earning bread and butter e.g.lawyer may lie to protect his client, parents even may lie to prevent kids from doing some act which may harm them. One thing may be right under some specific circumstances, and same thing may be wrong in the other e.g. Doctors may conceal some hard truthful facts from patient for his/her well-being, Govt.officials may conceal some facts, figures to keep morale of public in general under emergencies occured due to natural calamities like flood, quakes. So, one has to judge the cicumstances to decide what is right and what is not.

However, whatever right is always right as Truth is like pure gold. What say?

Pausa re Pausa,
---------------

Asa re kasa tu Pausa,
ye re, ye re mhanaychi himmat nahi aata,
odhun nelyas kiti tari narali pophalinchya baga,
pani phirawiles kiti tari gharanwar,
kiti tari balake anath kelis,
kay sadhles tulach thauk,
Asa re kasa tu Pausa,
Ja re ja tu pausa,

Varsha project cha evdha rag kelas,
ki,lahan asanyachi mansala janiw karaychi hoti tula,
ki Mars mission, Discovery yanacha nishedh ?
Deva re deva, tu tari tyala sang,
tuch ragawala watate,
tsunami kay, hurrican kay, rita kay un quakes kay,
sagali tuzich rupe,
tuch tandaw keles,
tar palta bhui thodich na,
manushya pranyachi pragati nahi ka khapat tula,
ki Vishwat manasachi dhawala-dhawal nahi aawadat tula?
kahi hi aso, tu badalalas ki pahatos satwa pareeksha,
ye mhanun sakade ghalnari tuzi balake,
aata ja mhanun sakade ghalatilch,
Pan ek vinawani aaik jara,
Ja re ja tu Pausa, pure tuza aghoripana.

Two days Rains on 14th and 15th made to think over it again. This means Victory over devilish things as on this day you may be knowing, Ram had killed Ravan the monster.

Apart from this on this day "Simollanghan" too is done, i.e. coming by crossing boundaries of town......may be it has relation with Pandawa...I dont remember exact story behind it. These days, it is not observed seriously esp. when boundaries of city are expanding. However, some ppl. go out to nearby places, exchange Apte pane as symbol of gold.

Then Dasara is counted auspicious that it is complete one day amongst three and half (sadetin muhurat)days which are supposed to be most auspicious in Hindus to do important things. So, ppl. do bhumipujan, vastushant, entry in new house or new purchases etc. on this day. There are many ways to reduce stress right from meditation to listening good music. So, here are some nice tips I liked.

1) Knowing your strong points and weak points well,

2) Developing ability to get thru unexpected situations,

3) Positive Monologues,

4) Support groups (not like kitty parties)e.g.books,positive thoughts.

5) Not having too much expectations from partners, colleagues, friends.

I know, it is easy to say than to implement. Your kids (read ppl.here)have just come out of Tsunami and then earthquake at some places (recent being at Andaman-Nikobar scale 7.2) and now there is flood like situations in Maharashtra. Chief person(called Chief Minister) of Mah. today took bird-view of Mumbai even thru hellicopter as plyovers were traffic-jam, ppl. are stuck at buses/ rail stations due to heavy rains. It is said, rains have broken records of last 100 yrs. at some places. Well, it's due to opening of outlets of some dams, we know....but result is not pleasant. Mumbai is affected very badly unexpectedly with water levels upto double decker/first floor floor. Thanks God Pune is saved till today. Next 48 hrs. rains should slow down to make Mumbai work as usual. On new Pune-Mumbai highway there is downfalling of big stones due to rains disturbing traffic which is turned to old highway in between.. hope situation will be under control. My neighbours are scheduled to come this Monday, hope they can easily travel thru new highway as before.

I don't understand on one side there are flood like situations and on other side it is shown that there was fire at Oil plant in Sea and 45 employees on that plant are missing while 225 rescued.(Watched on Zee Marathi my fav.channel for marathi serials on which I wish to write sometime). Am I quoting boring statistics? But thought to write down to make my point clear. Oh Nature, have a mercy with your creation. I know, you must be getting disturbed by some destructive activities done by your kids but forgive them before they cry for it."

Hope, I won't need write any reminder to our dear friend Nature.

P.S.-(Aug.5)
Neighbours came back home on 2nd Aug.
75 trucks full of veg. are going daily to Mumbai from Pune, Nasik,Nagar as Mumbai's market experienced shortage and huge prices after floods.
Cars drowned in water need huge servicing ( I read in newspaper)
Insurance Cos.are promising to help on the basis of documentation of household appliances etc. for those who had insured their household items. They have advised comprehensive Insu.policy instead of only bugglery policy which doesn't cover floods or fire....advising to list out things, take photos of damaged furnitures, electronic items etc.at home before they dispose off (may be for documentation purpose if receipts are lost). People will need bearing 5%of market price of lost items and first of all opt for "new for old" while taking out policy or else depreciation will be considered....then for fixtures like wardrobes their costs are added in building costs and at Mumbai most of bldgs.are insured.- ( for detail news refer rediff news).

P.S.- (Aug.6)
Central Govt. has declared 1 crore help to Mah.State for rehabilitation work after floods.
Sakal relief fund collected at Sakal = Total amt. 13 lacs + (read in today's sakal) Further they are collecting help in form of old clothes, utensils etc. for flood affected ppl.at some centres in City.
Mumbai is recovering step by step but slowly.
Karnataka Govt. not ready to outlet more water from Alamatti Dam as they fear of 600 towns getting into water (in Karnataka), so problem of Sangli,Kolhapur not solved resulting into floods from backwaters. Mah.Govt.tried to convince them thru Central Govt. But in vain due to their state's probable disaster.
P.S. (Aug.11)
Mumbai disease alert- Read today's rediffnews. Those who suffer from any symptoms of stomach upset, fever etc. should consult Dr.immediately. Take care.

P.S. (Oct.4)
Still rains here. So, umbrella in purse is must while going out. Mumbaikars enjoyed Ganpati festival and Puneities too. Many Ganpati mandals spent less on scenes/decoration and donated to flood affected families. Good guesture on their part. Now mandals are busy preparing for Durgapuja pandals since Navratri days started today. Garba-Dandiya is played by youngsters and elders too more in Mumbai than in Pune I think. Ofcourse, it is observed more at Gujrath being place of origin for Garba. I used to listen to garba songs "E khamma mara nandji na lal, bansari na re bajao......" oh, I dont remember right words...correct me if you know. Then Gujju ladies sending off each other late night saying," E khamma ma", "E Aaojo". I enjoyed Gujju words during my childhood when I had Gujju neighbours around. Hope rains co-operate Durgapuja.

Life's truth-
------------

Wish to write few lines on Life i.e.what we experience in general. You must admit that everyday is not the same and if it is same, something is wrong definitely. Happiness doesn't wait at your doorstep always or sadness too. So, one has to be bold enough to face the truth of life ( I am saying, assuming I have found it). Sometimes, I feel one should not make it habit to become sad. On the contrary sadness offers us guidelines, how to get thru it towards path of happiness. This blog has given me way to express myself so I am taking opportunity of lecturing you a bit. "Every dark cloud has silver lines"...... If today I am feeling low, it is me to think over it and get out of it and help myself. It is rightly said, "God helps them who help themselves". This doesn't mean that I should get my happiness by making others unhappy. Mostly I see ppl.doing this strategy to get happiness. Do your business honestly by not deceiving or hurting others and then only the benefit you receive will be priceless. Hurting others in no way will be excused by God even...... There is say in Marathi for this wrong doing,"Yachi dehi, yachi dola parat phed karawi lagte". One has to think over it. This means during this life only one will have to pay back for the wrong doings.

So, friends, today's lessons -1)"Live and let others live", 1)"Don't worry, Be happy !!" (I know, I too have to implement what I said).

Most beautiful amongst Mount Rainier Album (snap II on amruta's blog),so could not resist giving it special appearance on my blog.

BTW, photography is area which I am fond of. I just can't keep away my camera when I am with nature. Mine is Yashika Zoom camera which needs developing/printing,and doesn't have editing feature. Here digicams have got edge over it. However, preserving printed photos and going thru them leisurely is always different thing than to visit some site which needs courtesy of pc/laptop,internet connections and moreover the website where photos are uploaded. Sounds bit -ve? can't help. Everything has it's own plus, minuses. Isn't it. I thought it as I can't show photos on site to my parents/relatives that easily. Anyways, atleast I am enjoying them.

Guru Paurnima- 21st July,05
This blog devoted to my school teacher Smt.Malati Vaze mam.
----------------------------------------------------------

Gurur Brahma, Gurur Vishnu, Gurur Deo Maheshwarah,
Gurur sakshat parabrahma, Tasmayee Shree Gurawe Namah !!!
----------------------------------------------------------

All Indians knowing Sanskrit, I think, know these lines right from school days where one of the Gurus have special place in heart of each student. I remember my school days here and of course remember my most loved teacher Shrimati Malati Vaze ( we used to call her Vazebai). She was loved by all students who were sincere to learn esp. English at my school. She used to inspire us in all directions of life i.e. appearing exams.for English language at Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth, then taking part in competitions at school, planning for studies with scheduling other routine tasks sparing time for rest (mind well again, she wasn't management faculty). It was yr.1970 when I got her as Guru to remain in my mind for ever. Obviously, I passed on her ideas reg. scheduling/preparation of studies which was unique to my kids. You may find that idea bit exaggerated or tedious but it is quite practical and must for every student preparing for any exam. on this earth..... Ok, ok, won't keep it secret.....I will narrate that idea for all reading this blog esp.for school going children (even parents would like it)-

Ten Steps-
----------
1) When you have one yr. at hand- so 365 days - in a way 4 hrs.min daily studies (keeping other time for household work and/or rest) - 1460 hrs. Sounds you feel comfortable to finish studies. Then deduct some hrs.say 60 for festivals/functions at home etc. still you are comfotable.

2) So 1400 hrs.in your hand- then how many subjects/papers you have to study? Divide hrs.by no.of subjects (including practicals etc.which need less preparation than studying books). Say you got 1400 divided by 7 subjects= 200 hrs.per subject.

3) Then count no.of topics covered in syllabus for each subject (which may vary from subject to subject). So, if English has 20 lessons (incl.poetry/rapid reading etc.) you get 10 hrs.per lesson...more than enough na?
Then if Science has 10 lessons (but you feel, they will take more time for preparation) you will get 20 hrs.per lesson. On the contrary if Science has 20 lessons you will get same 10 hrs.,which you feel are less for digesting difficult concepts. Then you can allot more hrs.to science say 15 hrs. reducing 5 hrs. allotted to English lesson. Hushh ! you are comfortable now with Science.

4) Once you have allotted hrs.of lessons for each subject. Get set go !! Caution- you have to review quarterly whether you are following schedule. If not, check where you are lacking. Suppose you have bi-monthly, quarterly, half yrly exams. you can keep some cushion days.

5) Then review after six months. If you feel you could not complete lessons as per your expectations for any reason like sickness or guests or family vacation etc. just do same exercise of dividing but this time count days remained and lessons remained to be studied (including revision of already studied lessons as they may prove your strong point at exam).

6) Second review- when two months are left .

7) Third review- when one month is left.

8) Fourth review- Ten days are left for exam.

9)Fifth review- Two days left.

10)The day of exam.- and here you feel prepared, I am sure. Just be cool and write down some important things/points or anything you feel you would forget on a piece of paper, revise it and you are bound to remember whole thing.

I am sure, nobody in the world will stop you from getting success when you are confidently prepared. BTW, my teacher mentioned in this blog happens to be sister of Mr.Madhav Vaze who played role of Shyam in "Shyamchi Aai". Hope this blog inspires all students on this mother earth.

See my just born baby-

"Baher paus, aat paus,
chimb ole man, tasech chimb ole vichar,
Hridayachya tara chedlya nahi tarach nawal.
Sare kahi nawin dhutalya tandalasarakhe,
srustichi kimaya gelya varshi sarakhich,
tarihi watate na nawin,
toch to aasmant, hirwai tich, nilayi tich,
mag ashi kay jadu hote,
ki ethe tithe nawe nawe
ani wate jag sare mazyach kawet hawe."

Inspired by my today's blog reg."Barsat"....How'z my baby? Rainy season started right in June here..still it's hot in the afternoon sometimes. Summer though getting behind the greenary, showing it's presence by bird's making beautiful sounds like Kuhu, Kuhu, kuhu, kuhu, kuhu ......by Kokil, ys. exactly five times at a time, I noticed just now on the green trees having colourful flowers next to balcony. Then these kokil start competing each other it seems making it more interesting to listen. Here I remember song as usual- "Kokila ga, ga re..........." (don't remember full song). To add further, though in song there is mention of kokila, it's just to make easy singing....as it's always Kokil not Kokila who makes such nice sound to call Kokila in summers, sitting mostly on Mango trees. Is'nt it interesting ? Nature is Great !!! And I always think mankind is one of the products of Nature, so it's responbility of mankind to take utmost care of Nature which plays role of parents. Am I saying any exaggerated thing? Hope you agree with me.

Today on Travel Living channel they showed Burmuda island which is 650 km.away from East coast of United States. You must have heard about Burmuda triangle which is scary place to travel.....but this island wasn't at all.. they showed it as tourists place having three beaches and how ppl. there keep clean environment there by not throwing used cups, cans etc. Keeping clean environment is yet another topic to discuss of course. Well, it's time for my afternoon tea with ginger. See ya soon !!!

Monday, the 18th July,05 is Aashadhi Ekadashi, whole day Upwas i.e. Fasting day eating typical items like Sabudana Khichadi, soaked sabudana with curd (jeera/green chilli phodni added)then potato-kees which I prefer most from all items allowed on fasting days. I am enjoying Travel living channel while having potato kees. South Indian food preparations are shown under Global food items. Sorry to say, I watched non-veg.Dum biryani on fasting day! I know, my kids are going to laugh at me to say so. Well, I don't mind atleast watching, when I am not purchasing or eating or even serving. That way, I follow my mindset and not because it's tradition here or discipline of my religion.
Anyway, to add more about this day- Warkari go to Aalandi gaon, Pandharpur for worshiping God Vitthal and Sant Dnyaneshwar who is called "Dnyaniyancha Raja" who really spread knowledge through writing "Dnyaneshwari Granth" right in his childhood. I admire the way Sant Dnyaneshwar spent his short but full of troubles life with his brothers and lovely sister Muktai.
